Independent Readers 2022 (Jun 18 - Aug 15)
Ages 5-12. Kids aged 12 can choose between Independent Readers and Teen, but can only participate in one.
There are three different ways to earn points this summer:
Log Your Reading: All reading counts, including graphic novels and audiobooks! Earn 20 points for every 20 minutes read. Every 20 points can be redeemed for 20 Library Dollars, which can be used at the Prize Store. You can earn up to 1,120 Library Dollars by reading up to 8 hours and 40 minutes. If you read more than 9 hours, the extra points earned can be used toward the purchase of raffle tickets.
Write a Book Review: Every book review you write is worth 10 points. You can earn up to 100 points (or 100 Library Dollars) by writing up to 10 reviews.
Complete a Mission: Earn 10 points for each completed mission. The weekly missions are the library scavenger hunts and random acts of kindness. There is also a list of 10 genres/categories. Read a book that fits each genre/category to earn points for a maximum of 100 points (or 100 Library Dollars).
Each raffle ticket is worth 60 points. Purchase raffle tickets on the READSquared website using points you earned. Prizes in the Prize Store are worth different Library Dollar amounts. Prizes must be purchased in the library using Library Dollars.
